Week 11.3 - A3 Product Progression
We have made progress!
Today was a design freeze in class. Which was a bit nerve wrecking, espically since this means that there cannot be any drastic changes...all the elements should be there...can't add anything but fine tune it.
While I have finally decided and worked on the monitoring device, the other idea has always been in the back of mind but it was such a relied today to lock in a design.
I talked with my Tutor and showed him my CAD and what I did, what sensors are involved and where I'm going with it.
The design was received well, however there are a lot of things to consider moving forward. Things to consider such as the style, look and feel...making something simple that's not dull and boring. The images below are both quick sketches of things I need to consider and sketch more of :)
Hence, the main feedback I received was to simplify my design. I don't need to have the attachments for around the leg, maybe I only need a slip that they can cover the colostomy/catheter bags with. This side of the design, that I thought would be more comple, suddenly became simple, straight forward and easy.
- The other feedback, was to focus more on the arm band.
- To fine tune the interactions the user will have it.
- To ask myself, what else can they do?
- To stylise the design, make it trending, something they want to wear as well. Again it can't be dull and boring...simple is good but it can be bad
- To also look at the electronics, what it would be for the real product...not arduino, e.g. ideally the sensors would be this and it would fit...they are small enough etc
- WILL HAVE TWO PRODUCTS, ONE SHOW IT WORKS, ONE WHAT IT WOULD LOOK LIKE
I also need to look up and focus on the power and how it can be charged...a microchip atmega328p...due to the small amount of energy used in my design/code, I could use this small technology to power my device for about a week (though more research needs to go into there to confirm that).
